I dunno depends on the circumstances and the child. now days discipline is when the kid does not report the parent for the discipline; abuse is when the parent is reported.
this problem stems from general society trying to raise our kids instead of parents raising our kids. this happens because we all became politically correct, so now society is to blame for the lack of parenting in todays youth.

The world is becoming more and more dangerous, simply because children growing up in our NEW societies are spoiled, irresponsible, uneducated, little monsters.

They will kill each other without even batting an eye, yet we are not allowed to spank a child. Stupid!
