Great shows for kids...

IF you have kids and get the Discovery Channel, you should really have your kids watch "Dirty Jobs" with Mike Rowe.
This guy goes out to these horrible jobs that are absolutely vital for society to function.
It shows viewers that that old story about Americans not wanting to do difficult, nasty work is a smoke screen, and that there is dignity and honor in hard work that doesn't require a college degree.
What shows do you think kids should watch?

It's the hard work, and poverty shouldn't be a hindrance in learning and boosting up ones knowledge. That show is great and yes it's good for kids aside from Disney Channel they usually watched.

Yes, I agree, this is one good show, for both kids and adults.
As to cartoons and animation, I prefer old(er) classics. You know, I value Decency and Morals. Back then, you wouldn't see farting humor in a children's movie, and you wouldn't see lying justified. So I prefer the classics.

When I was a kid, I watched a lot of the PBS shows, like Bill Nye the Science Guy, Kratts' Creatures, and The Magic School Bus. Anything that is educational and still keeps the interest of the kids is best.

I think almost all the shows of Discovery, Animal Planet, National Geographic etc are suitable for kids. They are so so informative that kids would learn and enjoy so much from them.

they ought to follow around the typical new mom for a day now that is one dirty job! oh and the pay stinks

Very nice issue has been raised here by my fellow member... In good old classical cartoons like Tom & Jerry & Micky Mouse etc they respected ethics and preached the same. While the cartoons that are aired today are of pathetic levels, kissing, foul language has taken its toll. I would always prefer classics for my kids.

I think the show is a great family oriented show for everyone to watch. It just goes to show everyone that you should appreciate what you do because that office job that you complain about could be worse you could be out slaving like what the people on the show are having to do just to make a living. It should also teach your children to appreciate what they have as well!

Dirty jobs is definitely a great show for kids. I have seen couple of similar shows on Cartoon Network as well.

My kids like cartoons alot. They love old shows, like I love lucy. They watch sesame street alot, and they adore the Disney Channel too.

I watch that show alot. I really like it. It is interesting what some people do for work. I watch it with my kids all the time.

Pretty much anything on Nick, Cartoon Network, and Disney. Some of the stuff we think is disgusting is actually what the kids are growing up with and can relate to and find funny. Fart jokes don't make me laugh, but my nephew thinks they're hysterical!

I think Barney is a great television show for children, it teaches them about fair play and stuff like that.
Mike Rowe is awesome.
That's a great show, and you are right, it really does give perspective, in more than one way. Think your job sucks? How about cleaning septic tanks? lol
